Finding and Sharing Joy

2153

Friends,

I have been a political blogger and operative for 13 years. For those that know my age, you did the math right, I started writing about politics when I was 15 years old. I’ve had essentially no breaks from the political world. Blogger, turned public relations digital guy, turned blogger, turned campaign operative, turned blogger again.

For those that know me personally, you also know that these past few years have been particularly joyless for me politically.

I don’t want to go into the politics of why I’m not enjoying opining on the day-to-day political horserace stuff that used to fire me up and often bring me happiness. That’s not the point of this post. The point is to emphasis that while I will continue doing work for candidates as my vocation, I want to write about things that bring me joy.

So I’m going to use a lot of F-Words.

I’m going to write a lot about my faith. My pastor always asks himself — did Christ have to die for this to be true? I want to ask myself that question for some of my writing.

I’m going to touch on family, and fatherhood, because my wife and son are right there in the center of who I am. My experiences as a first-time father and primary caregiver might be instructive. I hope they’re at least entertaining.

I’m also going to focus on fitness, and all-around fun things. I’ve upended my sedentary lifestyle over the past six months and embraced things I never thought I would. I also still love sports, games, and silly viral videos.

This site will be undergoing a bit of a reorganization in the coming weeks and months. I will also be bringing those F-Words front and center via an email newsletter at some date in the near future. For now, will you sign up to join me in sharing some joy?
